Leadership and Training for the Future
Department of Military Science at Sacramento State
The Department of Military Science at Sacramento State University provides students with valuable opportunities for hands-on leadership and management training. Operating as an extension office of the University of California, Davis, the program is designed to prepare students for leadership positions, whether in the military or civilian sectors.
The program emphasizes learning by doing, offering practical, real-world experience that equips students with the skills necessary to succeed in various fields. While the department serves students from all academic disciplines, it focuses on fostering the leadership potential of each individual, preparing them for success in military and civilian careers alike.
Sacramento State offers two distinct program tracks: a purely academic track, which focuses on leadership theory and practice, and a precommissioning track for those students seeking to pursue a commission in the U.S. Army. These tracks provide flexibility, allowing students to choose the path that best aligns with their career goals.
